Welcome to the
SUNRISE Study!
Improving health care for diverse patients with gestational diabetes

Gestational diabetes increases risk for type 2 diabetes after delivery. People of color are disproportionately affected. But there’s good news: It’s possible to cut the risk for type 2 diabetes, even for busy parents!

In the SUNRISE study we are studying quick and easy ways for patients with gestational diabetes to prioritize their health after delivery. We hope to learn what kinds of health messages best empower patients to take good care of their health. The results could improve how doctors communicate with patients from diverse backgrounds about gestational diabetes.

Patients with gestational diabetes in Kaiser Permanente Northern California may be invited to participate. Between pregnancy and 1 year after delivery, participants will complete 3 online surveys, and view unique health messages. The surveys will ask questions your health, health care, and opinions about health information.  All study activities are online – there are no in-person visits. Participants are compensated with $80 in gift cards over the course of the study.

You may receive an email from SUNRISE@kp.org inviting you to participate.

"Health equity motivates much of my work. The long-term goal of this study is to promote preventive health care for patients from diverse backgrounds."
